With the summer travel season upon us, we thought we'd share our tips for traveling with jewelry and keeping your jewelries safe and looking as good as new.
1- Wear It or Carry It Keep it with you. Put your jewelry in a favorite bag you’ll carry while traveling. Don’t leave your jewelry in an unattended car or suitcase. Never leave jewelry in your luggage to be transported by airlines, cruise lines, or other public transportation.Keep it with you at all time .When checking into your hotel or condo, don’t hand your jewelry bag to hotel staff. Carry it personally.
2-Fake It-Consider wearing faux pieces when you travel, but remember, even faux pieces may make you a target for theft. The idea is to keep simple as possible.
3- Organized It If you’re looking for a great way to keep your jewelry in order, individual, air-tight plastic jewelry baggies are best. That way, you can see what you have and still be able to throw it all in a jewelry bag without worrying about things ever getting tangled.
4- Safe It When you’re staying in a hotel, always store your unworn jewelry in the hotel safe deposit box not in the safe located in your room. Don’t be shy—ask the front desk to hold it at the hotel safe.
5-Insure It: Be certain that you have worldwide jewelry coverage. Some coverage plans only offer protection in the US .A standard homeowner's policy will not cover jewelry for disappearance, and it will only cover theft of jewelry up to $1,000.
The key is to purchase a rider to your homeowner's policy or a separate policy to cover jewelry. Most standard policies will cover you for travel anywhere, but some might require that certain items be kept in a safe when you are not wearing them.
